A look at tutoring jobs that can be done from the comfort of your own home!
Tutoring jobs are available online to many professionals (teaching or otherwise) who are looking to bring in some extra income from home!
This may be a perfect opportunity for retired teachers, current teachers, or stay at home moms or dads who have teaching experience and are looking for a way to bring in a second income.
What Kinds of tutoring jobs are available?
There are a great variety of jobs that are available! Many companies are searching for :
Online tutors for elementary age children
(Kindergarten through 12th grade).
Online tutors for college age students
Online tutors for specific subjects such as math, science, or foreign languages.
Qualifications needed :
Each company will have different qualifications they require of their online tutors.
Requirements may include:
- Teaching certification for levels K-12
- A Master's degree (if you will be teaching in more complicated coursework such as college level calculus, for example, or if you wish to teach at the community college level.)
- A doctorate (if you wish to teach at an accredited college or university)
Don't be discouraged, however, if you don't meet any of the above requirements because some companies require only that you be enrolled as a student at any college or university!
How's that for simple?

This may be a great way for students as well as teaching professionals , retired or otherwise, to make a part-time (or full-time!) income and again, this is all from the comfort of your own home!
Of course, it is also possible for online tutors to work from anywhere at all as long as they have an up to date computer or laptop avalable and a reliable, high speed internet connection!

One of the companies I love the most (and I post about often on my Job blogs page) is Connections Academy.
I love Connections Academy not only for the jobs they offer to teachers but to the education they offer to students, all of it offered online, from a secure connection within your home!
For some people, home-school is not a possibility for their children but Connections Academy makes an education from home a lot more accessible to many.
In the same way, for those of you who have a background in Education but are not able to work outside the home right now, Connections Academy might be the answer that you have been looking for, as they routinely offer work from home oportunities to teachers in many different subjects and areas of education (such as curriculum and administration).
Here is another company that I came upon recently named: Conversations Direct.
This company is looking for Teachers/Tutors who can teach conversational English to people form other countries.

Last but not least is a website that does not require that their online tutors have a degree.
Their website has you download a free app to apply and then once you are accepted, you can begin working with students based out of China who want to learn conversational English.
