If you have been looking for editing or proofreading jobs from home, take a look at Scribendi.
Scribendi is a company based out of Canada, that offers editing and proofreading jobs to qualified individuals.
For those of you who already work as a Freelance writers, this may be a neat addition to your work portfolio and your added experience as a freelance writer might be a great asset as well.
The editing and proofreading jobs are home-based, which may make this even more attractive for those of you who who have been looking for a way to work from home.
While this company does seem to offer a great opportunity to obtain editing and proofreading jobs from home, they do require the following:
Must have experience in the areas of proofreading, editing, and/or teaching languages.
Must have a college diploma or a university degree in a related field. The website does state that a graduate degree is preferred.
English must be your first language.
Must have an average proofreading/editing speed of 1,00-1,500 words per hour.
Must have high-speed internet access.
As far as the pay, unfortunately, I have not been able to find a credible source to get you the correct information, however, it does appear that they pay via Paypal. This tells me that
it is probably not a steady job that is offered, more likely it is projects that are offered intermittently and in fact, the company website does state that they hire you on as independent contractors rather than an employee of the company.
What is the difference between an employee and an independent contractor? Click here for my thoughts on this.
Is this a U.S. only based position?
Good news, these proofreading jobs from home can be done from anywhere in the world! Please take note again that they require that English be your first language.
To apply with this company, you will need to fill out their application (found online). You will also need a pretty sharp resume. So again, you may hear me harp on this, but it is worth it
to get a friend who is good with resume making to help you or pay for a service to help you put one together. Consider it an investment that will pay you back many times over.
Here is a resume service that I recommend:
If the company likes your application and resume, you will be contacted by them.
