Have you been looking for a way to do transcription from home?
Tigerfish offers a great way to do this!
Tigerfish has been in business for approximately 22 years. They are a legitimate transcription company offering entry level jobs to people who wish to work in the area of transcription from the comfort of their own homes!
The job involves receiving the work on an audio file which you can then transcribe into the format desired by the client. They request that you transcibe exactly what is being said on the audio file.
They do hire people with little to no experience in transcription!
The company accepts online applications only, not via telephone at this time.
Although no experience is necessary to work for Tigerfish, the application
process can be challenging and lengthy, so be sure to set aside at least a few
hours to complete the application process.
If you are new to transcription, being able to decipher the the audio given to you for transcription may be somewhat difficult unless you have a headset.
I highly suggest that if you are seriously thinking of getting employment in the field of transcription or customer service jobs that you can do from home, that you look into getting a quality headset.
If you're looking for suggestions for some quality headsets, try looking at Plantronics and Ativa headsets. They are high quality headsets that will last for years. You can find them at Amazon or try Best Buy.
However, back to Tigerfish, through my research, I have noticed how many people
have stated how helpful it is to use a headset while listening to the audio that
needs to be transcribed.
Apparently, the sound is much clearer so that you will not have as many "unintelligibles"... those are words that you cannot make out on the audio and thus cannot transcribe.
This is especially important while you are taking the online transcription test that the company presents to its applicants because you will want to present a minimum of "unintelligibles" on the transcription test that you complete.
1. Focus Group
2. Medical Presentation
3. Art test
With all three, it is asked that you transcribe exactly what is being said.
Again, if there is a word you can not understand or make out on the audio, you can write "unintelligible" in its place. Try to minimize that as much as you can on the test. However, don't be afraid to mark a word as unintelligible if it truly is!
As i mentioned before, make sure you set aside plenty of time to give your undivided attention to transcribing the audio as accurately and quickly as you can.
I would suggest setting aside at least 3 hours but it may take you much less time than that to complete it!
Remember that, as with any skill, practice and time will sharpen your skill, accuracy and speed. So don't be discouraged if you are not as fast as you thought you would be! You will get there!
Many find that with time, not only are they able to transcribe audio more quickly but they are also able to better decipher what is being said on the audio!
That is not an easy question to answer and you may get more exact details while
you are going through the hiring process.
However, from what I have gathered, you can expect to be paid about 3-4 cents per line.
That may seem low but remember that Tigerfish does hire entry level applicants, so that may be one reason why the pay is a little lower than the industry standard.
However, as with any job that is entry level, coming into a job like this presents a great opportunity to get your foot in the door within the world of online transcription.
I say this because many online transcription companies do not hire transcriptionists unless you have years of experience under your belt.
So, worst case scenario: it is a great stepping stone to bigger and better companies (and better pay!).
Best case scenario?......
You love it there and decide to stay!
Either way, best of luck!
